Identity Logo

For this project we were asked to create a personal logo that reveals our identity, in Adobe Illustrator. Whether it be through our name, nickname or interests, I chose a variety of things to make up my logo.
I started off with my nickname. My immediate family call me "Rat". So I used an image of a rat. I then thought I would play with the stereotype of the place for a woman is in the kitchen. I did this by making an abstract image combining the outline of the rat and black and white checks of a typical kitchen floor. As a caption I thought of my interests. I absolutely LOVE music. I wouldn't be able to exist without it. I also have a passion for old music, which I often don't like to admit! There's a song by a regga band, UB40 called "There's a rat in my kitchen". This caption went so well with my image and it shows my nicknames and my interest. I also made the caption text in pink to make it more feminine, as I would describe myself as being very feminine. The font I used is called "Indie Rock". Other than this being an aesthetically pleasing font, I also was attracted to the name as indie rock is my favourite music genre!
I will admit though, these aspects aren't obvious in my logo; they are subtle.

Self Portraits

As our first project for second level Digital Arts we were asked to create 5 self portraits. We took 5 pictures all with different expressions and we were given free reign to do what we wanted with them. I used photoshop to create and manipulate new compositions and alter the photos.

This was the first one I did. I am a fine arts student, so I have a passion for art and for traditional techniques. So I thought I'd best express myself with something I felt most comfortable with, which is drawing in a traditional medium such as charcoal. I found a brush on PS that gave the same effect a piece of charcoal would. I drew this with a drawing tablet. I used a reverse/difference effect on my original top drawing to create the blackened version of my drawing. I wanted to create a reverse mirror effect. I was happy with how this one turned out :)

For this image, I pulled an angry face. So I used the text in the background to express some of the things that would cause me anger and to cause me to pull that specific expression. I was inspired by pop art and Andy Warhol. I created the dot effect like Warhol did in some of his pieces. I wanted a "matt effect" on my skin, so I used no tone whatsoever, and I am happy with the end result.

I wanted to show my passion for colour in this image. I love to dress in bold and eye catching colours. I am especially a big fan of tie dyed clothing and this pattern reminded me of that.

This was just a play around one that I did. I was pulling a "duckface" in this picture, so I thought I'd mock myself by turning myself into Donald Duck. Just something quirky.

Just a little fiddle around with textures. It's subtle, so  I am not completely happy with the end result...but it's interesting :)

This was purely just playing around with the magic wand tool. I clicked on random places of my face, which the wand selected and I filled those selected areas with the paint bucket. I love how abstract it turned out! It's rather cheapy and zombie-like and in my opinion pretty cool :)
